Hume Conservatorium offers annual bursaries as a form of financial relief for parents and self-funding students. Â We also offer scholarships which are awarded on the basis of student ability and potential. You cannot receive both a scholarship and a bursary.
A Bursary is normally available to existing students who have been learning an instrument or attending vocal lessons.
If a student has not been studying with Hume Conservatorium and a case can be made for the existence of extenuating circumstances, a bursary may be offered. Such instances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Hume Conservatorium Management Committee and a bursary may be offered at the Committee’s discretion.
Bursaries are intended to support continuing study, bursaries are normally offered for future study does not apply to past bills. However, a bursary can also be offered for fee relief for current fees on the grounds of demonstrated hardship (subject to funding), especially where serious circumstances have arisen unexpectedly. Â
All bursary applications are means-tested. A Tax Assessment Return Notice and/or Centrelink payment summaries must be presented as proof of total gross income for 2022/2023.
Additional family members may also be eligible for a bursary; however, this will be at the discretion of the Committee.
If an applicant is under 18 years of age, they will be considered to be financially dependent and the application will be assessed on parental income. This also applies to any applicant over 18 years of age who is still considered to be financially dependent on parent/s.
The information you supply will help determine your eligibility for financial assistance and will be strictly confidential.
The applicant must meet the Bursary Conditions as specified in the attached form. Please read the attached form carefully and ensure that you provide all the necessary details and information as requested.

Most bursaries are Half-Fee Bursaries. This means that the bursary will cover half of your one-to-one lesson fees each year. This equates to around $800 per year for 40min lessons at the Hume Conservatorium.
The Conservatorium may, in its discretion, also award a half bursary for ensemble participation in addition to tuition fee relief.
You may be required to meet with the Hume Conservatorium CEO to discuss your application after lodging this form. You will be notified once an outcome has been determined.Â
