“Going to the SongMakers workshop was the best decision I’ve ever made because it helped me realise these opportunities were out there for me. SongMakers has been a massive part of my music journey.” – Previous SongMakers Holiday Program participant.
State-wide music mentoring program returns with sights set on Goulburn talent
Following a successful first visit earlier this year, a State-wide music industry mentoring program is again setting its sights on emerging talent in and around Goulburn, with a songwriting intensive in October. The SongMakers Holiday Sessions are presented by national music organisation, APRA AMCOS, as part of the Office for Regional Youth Holiday Break program in partnership with Create NSW.
Tues 3rd and Wed 4th Oct, (10am-4pm), Hume Conservatorium, Goulburn
FREE places are being provided to 16 locals, aged 16-21, to participate in the program. They will spend 2 days writing and recording songs and learning about music careers with inspiring Australian professionals. Interested creatives should scan the QR code to fill out the form to enter.
Workshop mentors include Kristy Kee Peters, or known as KLP professionally, a singer, songwriter, producer and DJ who has worked with Skrillex and Slumberjack, has graced festival stages such as Spledour in the Grass, and whose track ‘Energy’ with Space Cadet peaked at Number 1 on the ARIA club chart. The second mentor who serves as the drummer for PNAU and Alice Ivy, and has performed with Tkay Maidza, Dua Lipa, King Princess and more is Tim Commandeur, ARIA Award winning drummer and producer who co-founded the ARIA Award winning band Operator Please. Our third mentor for this workshop is Audius Mtawarira, who has been instrumental in the birth of many careers since 2000, giving artists that initial breakthrough song. So many of today’s iconic Australian artists owe their success to Audius’ mentorship, guidance and wealth of knowledge about artistry and commercial music. The African-born hitmaker has worked with a broad and diverse selection of Australian and global artists including Delta Goodrem, Flo Rida, Jessica Mauboy, Rahsaan Patterson, Iyaz, Ricki Lee Coulter, Stan Walker, Shasha, Dj Fresh and more. Audius is prolific in styles ranging from Urban to Amapiano.

We acknowledge the traditional Custodians of this Land, where the Aboriginal People have performed age-old ceremonies of storytelling, music, dance and celebration. As a traditional meeting place, many first nations peoples came to this region. Underneath our buildings and roads this Land always will be traditional Aboriginal Land. in the same way, all music making genres and practices come from our musical elders, so we acknowledge those on whose skills and wisdom we draw.
