Tailored for schools class lessons are a great way to meet the Department of Eduation music cirriculum expectations as explore music in school.Â
As students become more focussed smaller groups or shared lessons are a great way to begin focusing on ispecific insturments and developing musical aptitude.Â
20 Min Lessons. We find that 20 minutes is perfect for all ages as beginners. In a 20 minute lessons students will begin to develop skills specific to their chosen instrument as well as learning theory and reading music.Â
40 Minute Lessons. As a students aptitude increases they will benefit from spending more time with their tutors and progess into longer lessons and joining ensembles or groups. Students will become more fcoused on their musical goals and develop their skills in performing, reading music and theory. It is recommended that students in 40 minute lessons join an appropriate ensemble or group to develop their skills playing with others. this adds a social and community aspect to their lessons and helps to develop performance skills.Â
60 Minute Lessons. Hume Conservatorium recommends 60 minute lessons for students who wish to focus their skills. These lessons are best students with high aptitude studying difficult pieces or those completing exams, beginning a performing career or needing extra guidance.
Ensembles and groups are best for students in individual lessons who are looking to expand their skills in performance. Our ensembles create additional performance opportunities for stduents and help to develop their skills in a fun and social environment. We acknowledge the traditional Custodians of this Land, where the Aboriginal People have performed age-old ceremonies of storytelling, music, dance and celebration. As a traditional meeting place, many first nations peoples came to this region. Underneath our buildings and roads this Land always will be traditional Aboriginal Land. in the same way, all music making genres and practices come from our musical elders, so we acknowledge those on whose skills and wisdom we draw.
