A junior ensemble best for upper primary to early high school-aged students. This group builds on the primary schools recorder programs and gives young people access to skilled tuition while working as a group. Recordia performs regularly at our end-of-term concerts.Â
A junior ensemble suitable for young people in upper primary to lower high school grades. Instruments in the Junior Concert Band include flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, bass guitar and percussion. The Junior Concert band performs at end-of-term concerts for family and friends.Â
The Junior Rock Band is a fun and social group with A LOT of guitars!! Students work at different levels playing appropriate parts to create music together. Instruments in the junior rock band include guitar, bass guitar and drums. Perfect for upper primary – early high school.Â
Perfect for beginner to intermediate players, allegro strings is a lively and active group. They hold concerts each term at the conservatorium. Â
Singing together as a group has incredible health and wellbeing benefits including increased levels of social connectedness, increased sense of belonging, physical and emotional benefits, and reduced personal stress (Bailey & Davidson, 2005; Clift & Hancox, 2001). Our choirs rehearse weekly during term and are often seen performing at local and regional community events. With options for beginner, intermediate and advanced.Â
The Hume Conservatorium Concert Band is a welcoming community of musicians with a mix of intermediate and advanced students. The repertoire is varied and interesting. Each year the concert band has workshop with orchestras and touring bands such as the NSW Police Band, Opera Australia and the New Horizon’s Band. Instruments in the Concert band include flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, bass guitar and percussion.
Learn to play in a group setting whilst fine-tuning or upgrading your string-playing skills. Whether you want to play in a string trio, quartet, piano quintet, instrumental octet or ultimately audition for a professional orchestral position, learn the Art of String Group or Ensemble Playing.  Add ‘strings to your bow’ by: Expanding your musical knowledge, Enhancing your listening skills, Learning how to work together or as a team, Discovering personal qualities such as confidence, through better understanding of the language of your instrument, Developing an appreciation for the beauty that is present in rhythm and harmony, Refining and or transforming your skills in playing an instrument, Having heaps of fun doing it! best for student 12 and over.Â
Don’t Fret is an acoustic guitar ensemble open to intermediate and advanced players. Perfect for high school to adults.Â
The Senior Rock band is an opportunity for young musicians to work as a rock band under the guidance of our skilled tutors. The rock band program aims to teach students to work together to improve skills and get “gig ready” for the future. This program is aimed at upper high school students who are generally invited to participate as they become more skilled. the Rock Bands Program enter regular Band Competitions, and performs at local and regional events such as Vibes Fest. In 2023 one of the Senior Rock bands placed in the semi final of the State wide
The Hume Con Bluegrass Band are a lively and fun group of musicians playing bluegrass-inspired pieces. This ensemble is perfect for high school students to adults. The bluegrass band recently received a scholarship to attend the Inaugural Bundanoon Folk Festival and perform. This was an excellent experience for our students and their families.Â
At Hume Conservatorium we believing playing music with others boosts a student’s learning, develops social networks and most importantly its fun! We support our ensembles with performance opportunities, workshops and combined concerts with touring musicians, regional groups and performers.Â
