20 Min Lessons. We find that 20 minutes is perfect for all ages as beginners. In a 20 minute lessons students will begin to develop skills specific to their chosen instrument as well as learning theory and reading music.Â
40 Minute Lessons. As your aptitude increases you will benefit from spending more time with teachers and progress into longer lessons and joining ensembles or groups. Students will become more focused on their musical goals and develop their skills in performing, reading music and theory. It is recommended that students in 40 minute lessons join an appropriate ensemble or group to develop their skills playing with others. This adds a social and community aspect to your lessons and helps to develop performance skills.Â
60 Minute Lessons. Hume Conservatorium recommends 60 minute lessons for students who wish to focus their skills. These lessons are best students with high aptitude studying difficult pieces or those completing exams, beginning a performing career or needing extra guidance.
Ensembles and groups are best for students in individual lessons who are looking to expand their skills in performance. Our ensembles create additional performance opportunities for stduents and help to develop their skills in a fun and social environment.
